What would it look like if we pushed a grand piano off the roof of a 10-storey building? As it turns out, that is a fun question to answer! UPMC’s Heart and Vascular Institute and the American Heart Association were teaming up for Go Red for Women, an event to promote heart health and awareness among women. To make their point they chose a smashed piano for the promotion’s centerpiece.

As Michael Mathier, MD, medical director of the community outreach and cardiovascular health program at UPMC explained, “Unless you are a cartoon character, you are more likely to die of heart disease than a falling piano. It’s important to get checked out and make any necessary lifestyle changes early so you can live a long, healthy life.”
