"How People Make Things" Exhibit
How People Make Things is a traveling exhibition created by the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh. It was inspired by the factory-tour segments produced for the landmark children’s television program, Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. Ourselves, being in the business of making things, we jumped at the chance to work closely with the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh to create an experience that would allow visitors to punch in for a quick shift on the factory floor.
The exhibition features hands-on activities and easy-to-operate equipment that allows guests to manufacture souvenirs that can be taken home. Displays also demonstrate the steps familiar objects — Vans sneakers, Matchbox Cars, and baseballs — undertake during their transformation from raw materials to finished products, as well as the various manufacturing processes utilized along the way.
